Dream big, start small

So in love I’ve bought my second wheel.

Yes you can throw lush pieces and my friends do… but... and this is random… I use my wheel to trim and centre hand-built porcelain pieces. I also use the wheel for when making a master shape to make a mould from and slip-cast. Having the strong motor means I can centre larger pieces and I find it loads more effective than spinning a banding wheel.

My mini wheel is born from a couple and their 3D Printer and is designed to be the best it can possibly be- and it is!
The company has grown which means more people get to access their fantastic, English made, mini wheels and play with clay- it also means their product is a success. Their stock continues to sellout as they don’t take shortcuts or compromise on quality or their integrity. This feels particularly rare these days and is something to be cherished, supported and encouraged.

My little wheel has holidays visiting family members and I fire their creations in my kilns. The wheel was bought for my friends and family to enjoy when visiting the studio or to borrow- I don’t actually throw in my practise (I hand-build with porcelain). My uncle got particularly excited resulting in water sneaking into the system, resulting in the wheel making an interesting noise when being used. Despite the wheel being out of warranty, Small Ceramics replied to my email on the day with an amazing repairs service, super affordable, easy to understand and even included a link to generate the postal label required. Honestly, I knew they were a great company, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like it- super friendly, helpful and professional. Thankyou!

I continue to enjoy following the company’s journey and hope to treat myself to the Lite model in the future.

I am a complete beginner to the world of pottery, and I had so much fun using this wheel. It is well made, simple to use and understand, and I managed to figure out my flow and make a little pot within the space of an hour! It was super easy to clean up to area, I just threw on my dining room table, the splash pan caught most of the clay water, and then I wiped up the rest no problem.
I can tell this is going to be my new favourite hobby! <3

Not to be dramatic but this wheel has become my most prized possession... possibly the best thing I have ever bought!? I looked at loads of small wheels after trying a friend's one (from amazon), and I'm sooo glad that I treated myself to this one!!! It's in a completely different league, there are so many things that set it apart from the others. Not only is it the cutest wheel about, it's powerful too. The torque is great, you can apply pressure without it slowing down, so it can handle a lot of clay for throwing bigger pieces. It's quiet, super simple to use and the splash pan and 12cm bats work great. You can also spin both clockwise and anticlockwise. It's so well made, and by a small business too, sooo...

My wheel brings me so much joy and it has been great for my mind too. I just got my first few pots fired which was super exciting and I can't wait to keep practicing, learning and try throwing some bigger pieces.

The mini pottery wheel is so fun to use. It’s definitely a bit tricky, but even just trying is really enjoyable. Cleaning is also much quicker than with a regular pottery wheel which makes it super easy to just give it a go for an hour. Highly recommend!!

I got to give your new batts and the Lite Wheel a good test today. I threw a full pound (450 g) of clay. First of all. the Batts worked perfectly. No slippage what-so-ever. They are simply brilliant! I found I need to work a bit to get them fully seated so they don’t have a slight wobble but that just takes a bit of practise and it is oh so worth it. Now that I can throw a larger amount of clay, I can experience how surprising the motor is. I applied a lot of pressure during centering and the wheel did not hesitate for a second. I think you have greatly understated its capabilities in your sales pitch. How delightful is that? All in all I have gone from questioning if I was happy to have purchased it to being thrilled that I did. Great job all.

Small ceramics have done it again with this wheel. It’s a great upgrade to the classic one I had. It is bigger, quieter, longer cable, more powerful. I can centre as if throwing on a full size wheel. Looks amazing and is steady and reliable to throw on. Looking forward to getting batts for this when they come out. It’s already been put to regular use in the studio.

I love it! The motor is excellent - I’m shocked at how much I can push on the wheel with no issues. I’ve thrown 550 grams of clay with no problem. I use it mostly for throwing small pots to use for “test tiles” and trimming my mugs and smaller things at home - which has been great. I throw at a community studio so being able to trim at home has really kept my workflow going ☺️ Also using this little wheel to let my kids learn at home which has been really fun! ♥️ Happy Accidents Ceramics

I've used this wheel three times since receiving it. It has no wobble, is very smooth and powerful for its size. It's great for throwing mini vases off the hump. My only issue so far is that the splash pan is higher than the wheel head. With such a small work area, it is a bit challenging to get my hands flush with the wheel head as my wrists hit the top of the splash pan. I don't want to dock a star for that since the wheel is great, more just something to be aware of and hopefully they will take it into consideration for future splash pan designs.

Love love love! This is THE best tiny wheel there is. So powerful! It has such a great design with the removable bats and splash pan. I mean, it's the cutest thing! Can't get any better than this mini wheel!

What a wonderful company. Recently, my much loved mini wheel started sounding its age, still working, but not right. 'Fair enough' I thought; it is old, thrown well, over a 1000 pots, done demos and classes, and been very well used. I contacted Small Ceramics on the off chance they would be willing have a look at it, but fully expecting to be told sorry, it is time for a replacement. Instead, not only were they able to offer a full service and repair of my wheel, but also upgraded the more worn parts. It's now ready for many more years of throwing! If only more companies had this attitude, and care for their products!
