The new Small Pottery Wheel monthly update: October/November

The new Small Pottery Wheel monthly update: October/November

Hey everybody!

Welcome back to the next edition of our blog post. I blinked, and October is already a distant memory, so I figured I would roll the October and November updates into one!

New Products
To start, we finally released our highly anticipated and requested trimming tool to the world! They have already reached many people, and we are looking forward to hearing initial feedback on our design and any suggested improvements! It was quite a labor of love, so I really hope everyone enjoys them :) There are plenty available on our webshop now, so grab one if you haven’t yet!

We have also very recently released a set of limited edition Christmas-themed mini ribs, perfect for making ornaments for your tree or home! There are five shapes included, and I had the great privilege of testing them out and creating a set for myself! They are so cute, and I can’t wait to see what other designs people come up with!

Current Model Wheels
We are still building our current model wheels in time for Christmas. We have a lot on the shelf in many colors. Over the past two weeks, we have been waiting for one part to come in to finalize them, which is part of the reason why they haven’t been consistently in stock online! So, keep an eye on the website over the next week, as we will be restocking them in all kinds of colors! We are also working with a stockist in Denmark and will be delivering a large amount to them very soon. If you are Denmark-based, do get in touch, as this might be a more convenient way to purchase one of our wheels!

New Model
The most anticipated product, probably in the whole history of the world! We are currently testing the motor that we want to use for the new model. We have had to slow down the development of the new model as we focus on Christmas and prioritize spending where it’s most needed right now. We are still aiming for a release of this model next year, so keep an eye out for our updates about this!

Thank you, as always, for following our journey and keeping up with this adventure! We appreciate your support so much. Have a great November, and we will be back with another update in December, just before the holiday break!

Thanks for the update Daisy. When trying to decide whether to wait for the new wheel or go for a current one, I am basing my decision on some of the new features on wheel 2.0 that you laid out in your earlier blog post – namely a more powerful motor, metal batts, wireless operation. Can you give us an indication on whether these specifications are still what is planned? I ask because your reply to Emily reads like the current wheel is basically the same thing but mass produced, which makes me feel like there isn’t much point in waiting. Thanks and hope you can clarify – looking forward to using my preorder soon.

Emily, I understand your frustration. We are frustrated too. This new model was supposed to be ready in July, however due to issues with a production agency we hired to help us not being able to deliver what they promised, we were back at square one, in terms of design and finances. We are working every day to design and bring to market the new model, but also to bridge the gap we are also producing larger volumes of our current model which have very comparable features… in the end, the new model is just an industrially designed version of the current wheel, but for for mass manufacture. There will be some parts that are of higher spec but nothing that our current wheel isn’t already capabe of.
We have also made it very clear that you can use your pre-order deposit on one of our current model wheels, or on anything else in our store should you not wish to wait.
I’m sorry you feel this way but as I’ve said before, it is just myself and my partner working on this business and self funding it, and unfortunately nothing is cheap! So we are focussing our efforts on delivering to our customers what we are able to before christmas instead of missing this holiday entirely in lieu of the new model coming out sooner.
Thanks and I hope you understand, Daisy

I’m sure you have had many comments like this but I’m feeling very much taken advantage of. You have had my deposit for 10 months! Using that money to focus on your own products instead of finishing what was promised! This is a bad business model!!!
