Production Overview and FAQ

Production Overview and FAQ

Mar 31, 2026Small Ceramics Ltd

Hi all 👋

We wanted to share a concise overview of our production process, key timeline dates, and to answer some of the questions we have been hearing along the way, all in one place.

Our FAQ will continue to evolve as things take shape, but this felt like a helpful way to offer a snapshot for everyone on our pre order list to check in, catch up on anything you may have missed and to help answer any questions you may have.

What’s happened so far

· In August 2025, we shared a detailed update on the Pro wheel. If you missed it, you can catch up here.

· In October 2025, we sent a survey to everyone on the pre order list, asking for your input on the Pro wheel and offering the option to switch to our intermediary wheel, the Lite.

· In December 2025, the Lite wheel launched for those who had switched over on the pre order list, and shipping began shortly after.

· January 2026, the Lite wheel officially launched to the public.

· April 2026, new Pro wheel update coming later next month! (check back in a few weeks)

Development of the Pro wheel has continued alongside the Lite wheel throughout this period. We are still working through the complexities involved in creating a fully portable small wheel and are planning to launch the Pro version later this year. We will continue to share updates here and via emails as things progress.

Overview of all three wheels here

A lot of you have been asking about the key differences between our wheels. We shared this in our August update but wanted to pop it here again so it’s easy to find.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the Pro wheel be launched?

This is one of the questions we hear most often, and we completely understand the curiosity. We are a very small team and are actively working through the final stages of development.

Creating a fully portable small wheel has come with a number of challenges, and while we can’t confirm an exact launch date just yet, we are working towards releasing the Pro later this year. We will continue to share updates here and via email as things take shape.

I’m thinking of switching my pre-order to the Lite. What are the key differences?

The Lite and the Pro are very similar in many ways. The main difference is that the Lite still requires a plug in, while the Pro is being designed to run on a built in battery.

They are also shown alongside our Classic wheel in the comparison above. While the Classic is no longer in production, we included it for reference for those of you who have worked with it before.

Will the Pro in built battery be replaceable?

This is something we are working towards as part of the Pro’s development. Our aim is for the battery to be replaceable and housed inside the unit, rather than externally like a drill battery.

When the battery health declines over time, the plan is that you would be able to open the unit and replace it yourself. We will share more details once everything is finalised.

How much will the Pro wheel cost?

We’re aiming for a price point similar to the Lite, but we won’t be able to share confirmed pricing until we’re further along in development. There are still a few things to work through, though we’re not expecting a significant increase. We’ll be sure to share more as soon as we can.

Will the Pro wheel be a similar size to the Lite?

We’re aiming to keep the Pro wheel small, compact, powerful, and easy to move, just like the Lite. It will need to be slightly larger to accommodate the battery, but we’re working to keep it as close in size as possible.

What colours can we expect for the Pro wheel?
We’re likely looking at offering our most popular colours, Forest Green, Cyan and Ochre, as these scored highest in our pre-order list survey last year.

Of course, if there’s a colour you’d love to see, feel free to drop it in the comments below.

I’ve lost my pre-order code, what can I do?

No worries at all. Just send us an email with the name and email address you used when placing your pre order, and we will help you locate it.

I have the classic wheel, are my batts and trimmer compatible with the Lite?

The current batts are only compatible with the Classic wheel and cannot be used with the Lite.

We are working on an adapter for the mini trimmer that will be compatible across both wheels, with availability planned for April 2026.

What accessories are available for the Lite?
Optional 3D printed batts for the Lite are available here, and a mini trimmer with adapter will be available shortly. If you already own the Classic wheel, you will be able to continue using your existing mini trimmer once the adapter is available.

Can I join the pre-order list for the Pro wheel version?

No, the pre order list is now closed, and we are not able to accept any additional customers at this time.

I haven’t received any updates since I placed my pre-order?

If you think you might have missed an email, it’s worth having a quick look in your spam or promotions folder. If you’re still not sure, just get in touch and we can check that the right email address is on the list.

  • Glad the Pro is still in the works. Has been a long wait but now I have access to a kiln so that worked out. Can’t wait to see it.

  • My wheels from you are sooo lovely. When I share them with kids and adults there is so much fun. I am happy happy to wait for the pro wheel. It sounds even better than your handmade ones.

I do hope your business stays strong and keeps the pottery wheels coming.
