The new Small Pottery Wheel monthly update: December
Share
Hi everyone,
Welcome to our December newsletter! This month is all about our Small Pottery Wheels, the upcoming new model, and everything else we’ve been up to!
As you can imagine, December is an incredibly busy month for us—balancing Christmas preparations while wrapping up a year’s worth of hard work. I know I say it in every newsletter, but this time, the end of November and start of December have been extra busy. Keep reading to discover what’s been happening and what exciting plans we have lined up for the start of 2025.
Advance for Growth Award
One of the most exciting moments of this entire year has to be winning the Advance for Growth Award at the end of November! This incredible opportunity comes from a partnership with our local council and JCDecaux, the global out-of-home advertising giant. The award is designed to help a small business in the borough of Hounslow grow and scale up.
The prize? 12 months of advertising on JCDecaux’s entire digital out-of-home screen network across the borough—an invaluable opportunity, both financially and in terms of brand awareness. Last week, we met with JCDecaux to discuss how this will take shape throughout the year and what we hope to achieve through these campaigns.
Starting in January 2025, you’ll start seeing our adverts on social media and across Hounslow’s digital billboards. If you live locally (we’re currently based in Brentford), keep an eye out! We’d love to hear from you if you spot them. I’ll share more details and some sneak peeks of our creative campaigns as the year unfolds.
This partnership is not only helping us spread the word to hundreds of thousands of people but also providing us with resources to support the delivery of our new pottery wheel model in 2025. Which brings me nicely to...
The New Model
We’re thrilled to share that we’ve identified some amazing motors for our new Wheel. Over the past month, we’ve been rigorously testing their performance alongside the batteries we plan to use, and we’re feeling confident about where we’re at.
Developing this new Wheel is so important to us, and while we initially aimed for a July 2024 release, life had other plans. We’ve had to take a tough lesson in business this year—it’s been a challenge, and we’ve taken some hits. But we’re committed to creating a product that’s absolutely right, and sometimes that takes a little more time, effort, and investment than anticipated.
We believe that the Advance for Growth prize will open some doors for us that will allow the business to thrive and invest further in development. We know that if we’re putting this much time, effort, and money into creating this product, it needs to be right.
Making a product from scratch isn’t easy and it isn’t cheap, but we do have full confidence that once this model is ready it will be worth every penny.
Current Small Pottery Wheel Model
For those who don’t want to wait for the new model, we hear you! Our 3D printed wheels are what put us on the map, and they remain a product we’re incredibly proud of. Throughout December, we’ve been hard at work producing more of these classic wheels—in a variety of colours—to ensure as many people as possible have something special to enjoy this Christmas.
To those who used their pre-order deposit to purchase a classic wheel, thank you so much for your support. We hope it brings you years of joy—I still use mine after four years, and it’s just as wonderful as ever.
Shipping to the EU: New GPSR Laws
We love our EU customers, and with Stefano (one of our founders) hailing from Italy, Europe holds a special place in our hearts. However, shipping from the UK into the EU comes with its challenges, especially under new GPSR regulations.
Rather than let this hold us back, we’re taking the opportunity to set up a base in the EU. We’re just a few pieces of paperwork away from launching our European warehouse, which means we’ll soon be able to ship directly to all EU countries. This will streamline the process and allow us to better serve our European community—we can’t wait!
Thank You
As always, thank you for following our journey and supporting us through this adventure. Your trust and enthusiasm mean the world to us. We hope you have a wonderful December and a well-deserved holiday break. We’ll be back in January with more exciting updates!
Have a fantastic holiday season!
